Lastly, there are "timed" battles as an option, which is a good thing. But in practice 3D doesn't add anything to the game, and it incredibly annoying underground where it is very difficult to get the camera orientated so that you can see where you are going, and what locations, enemies and items are nearby.Īdditionally, some scenarios require every last enemy to be eliminated on a map to progress (or that you go to an obscure location that wasn't totally obvious that you needed to go there) So, even though you have dominated the map you are forced to labor through and do work to finish the scenario. It is an improvement on Heroes 4, except that they went 3D, which sounds like a good idea. Even then you should be prepared for some frustrations. Unless you are a die hard Heroes of Might and Magic Fan, stay away from this game.
HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC 3 REVIEW SERIES
Overall it is great if you like the series but if you have never played HOMM1,2,3, or 4 you probably wont appreciate the game on its own.
It's castles are spectacular and creatures are eery and inventive. Graphically, where I think the developers paid most of their attention, this game has very few equals. The gameplay though is what you would expect from this series and the creatures are cool and different. This also is upsetting because the campaigns follow the same story line.
Your also limited on the campaigns as well with the system where you have to finish a campaign in order to access another one instead of being able to pick and choose. Even when you build your character up she/he still doesnt have the power like in the fourth installment. In this version however it just isnt the same. First off even though I was a little reluctant at first to have my hero fighting in HOMM4, I actually warmed up to the idea and found that I rather like it.
